OmniCX was born to fill a hole, a hole left from the recent spate of acquisitions in the ecommerce space by the global tech giants on buying sprees to create complete customer experience solutions. ATG, Demandware and Hybris had all been successful as vendors providing complete solutions to tier 1 global retailers and smaller mid-market players alike. However, as the tech giants assembled their suite of technologies to include eCom, CMS, Search, Service, Marketing, etc, the solutions still needed to be integrated, started to become expensive and heavy weight to run for the mid-market companies.
As their alternative, mid-market companies were left with a solution based around Magento. As an open source platform, with the perception of low costs, extensive range of plugins and low-cost development community, Magento was adopted by many companies and saw rapid growth.
